Saint Cecilia’s Round Top Blessing of the Animals and Saint Francis Festival

Saint Cecilia’s Round Top will host its annual Blessing of the Animals and Saint Francis Festival on Sunday, October 4th at 10:00 a.m. outdoors in front of the chapel in Henkel Square. October 4th is a special day in history as it is the 800^th anniversary of Saint Francis’ death in Italy. Francis’ life, legacy and love for creation, especially for all creatures, will be celebrated. The short service will feature readings and songs that honor our animal friends. William B “Father Bill”: Miller, who has written two dog-centric books, The Gospel According to Sam and The Last Howlelujah, will share inspiring animal-themed stories. All animals in attendance will be blessed, and will receive a Saint Francis medal, blessing certificate and prayer card. Musicians Joey McGee, Anna La Mare and Stephen Mansolo will also present a concert immediately following the service. Miss Tilly will be present to offer face-painting and animal balloons for all kids at this family-friendly event. There will be breakfast tacos, cinnamon rolls and cold beverages for all. The Gardenia Janssen Animal Shelter will be present with several dogs up for adoption. All donations will go to the Janssen Shelter. This event is free and open to the public. All those attending are invited to dress comfortably and casually and bring a lawn chair. All animals should be in carrier or on leash.
