DESCRIPTION:The Community Foundation of the Brazos Valley’s 6th annual Brazos Valley Gives is officially set for Tuesday\, October 15\, 2024 when nonprofits from throughout the 7-county region will engage donors to “give where you live.”  \nRegistration is now open for all Brazos Valley 501(c)(3) nonprofits to register to participate in Brazos Valley Gives— brazosvalleygives.org. The deadline to register is Friday\, September 6. Nonprofits pay a $150 registration fee; nonprofits that have an endowment at the Community Foundation are eligible for a discounted fee of $50. This registration fee is used for administrative-related giving day expenses to include the marketing/promotion of the event regionally. Register at brazosvalleygives.org. Nonprofits that register by Friday noon\, August 2\, will be eligible for a $500 Early Bird Registration Prize.

DESCRIPTION:Sales tax holiday\, runs Friday through Sunday\, August 9-11.  \nThe tax-free weekend exempts tax on qualified items like clothing\, footwear\, school supplies and backpacks that are priced below $100\, providing savings of about $8 on every $100 spent.  During the tax-free weekend\, qualifying items can be purchased tax-free in person or by internet\, phone or mail. \nPurchases are exempt when the item is both delivered to and paid for by the customer during the exemption period.  They are also exempt when the customer orders and pays for the item\, and the seller accepts the order during the exemption period for immediate shipment\, even if delivery is made after the period ends.  A list of eligible items for the tax-free weekend is available at www.texastaxholiday.org.
