SUMMARY:News Release from the Washington County Appraisal District
DESCRIPTION:The Washington County Tax Appraisal District will close to the public on Friday\, July 28th and will reopen on Monday\, August 14th.  The office closure is for a complete conversion of the appraisal and collections software and staff training on the new product.\nBurton ISD and the City of Burton have moved their tax collections to the WCAD\, making this office a one-stop-shop for all property tax needs.  The new software and website will add functionality and increase productivity.\n  \nWhile the office is closed\, payments can only be made by mail or through the WCAD website at www.washingtoncad.org.  Payments will not draft from owner’s bank accounts until after the office reopens on August 14th\, 2023.\n

SUMMARY:Texas Sales Tax Holiday
DESCRIPTION:Texas Sales Tax Holiday is Aug. 11-13\nState law exempts sales tax on qualified items — such as clothing\, footwear\, school supplies and backpacks — priced below $100\, saving shoppers about $8 on every $100 they spend. The dates of the sales tax holiday and list of tax-exempt items are set by the Texas Legislature. \nApparel and school supplies that may be purchased tax free are listed on the Comptroller’s website at TexasTaxHoliday.org. \nDuring the annual sales tax holiday\, qualifying items can be purchased tax free online or by telephone\, mail\, custom order or any other means (including in-store purchases) when either: \n\nthe item is both delivered to\, and paid for by\, the customer during the exemption period; or\,\nthe customer orders and pays for the item\, and the seller accepts the order during the exemption period for immediate shipment\, even if delivery is made after the exemption period ends.\n\nTexas’ sales tax holiday weekend has been an annual event since 1999.
